摘要: Epistaxis from the anterior septum is frequently treated with a topical application of silver nitrate, which cauterizes bleeding vessel. However, this treatment causes septal perforation in small percentage patients. We report our study histologic effect nitrate on samples tissue obtained 11 found that 30 seconds exposure allowed to penetrate depth approximately 1 mm. Longer (45 and 60 sec) resulted no significant additional penetration. Similarly, amount deposition into chondrocytic lacunae did not vary significantly length exposure. On other hand, extracellular matrix was positively associated duration direct evidence exerted any damaging cartilage. Instead, development perforations patients who receive may be attributable necrosis cartilage following damage overlying perichondrium, it derives its blood supply.
