Molecular Genetics of Clostridial Neurotoxins

摘要: Tetanus and botulinum neurotoxins (TeNTand BoNT, respectively) are produced exclusively by bacterial species belonging to the genus Clostridium. Their extreme potency man his animals has ensured their extensive analysis scientific community. In recent years these studies have been strengthened application of recombinant procedures. As a result genes encoding TeNT all seven BoNT serotypes cloned entire nucleotide sequences determined. This in turn led significant advances our understanding relationships between clostridial mode action. The availability also provided starting point from which molecular basis toxin production may be unravelled.
