摘要: In this paper we investigate the evolution of surface waves produced by a parabolic wave maker. This system exhibits, among other, spatial focusing, breaking, presence caustics and points full destructive interference (dislocations). The first approximation to describe is ray theory (also known as geometrical optics). According it, amplitude becomes infinite along caustic. However does not happen because optics only an which take into account behavior system. Otherwise, in breaking hold occurs regions delimited caustics. A second step use diffraction integral. For linear task has been made Pearcey (1946) (Pearcey, Philos Mag 37 311–317) for electromagnetic waves. under study non some features have counterpart theory. our attention focused on three types singularities: caustics, dislocations. both experimental numerical. experiments were conducted with two different methods, namely, Schlieren synthetic small amplitudes Fourier Transform Profilometry. With respect numerical simulations, Navier-Stokes continuity equations solved polar coordinates shallow water approximation.
