The detection of mesogranulation on the sun

摘要: Time averages of velocity measurements at disk center on the quiet Sun reveal presence a fairly stationary pattern cellular flow with spatial scale 5--10 Mm. Such mesogranulation has rms vertical amplitude about 60 ms/sup -1/ superposed larger supergranular flows. The lifetimes mesogranules appear to be least 2 hr.
