Expression of a type II collagen gene in the zebrafish embryonic axis

摘要: To understand the hierarchy of developmental controls underlying axis specification in vertebrate embryos, it is helpful to identify relationships between regulatory molecules and genes that given axial cells their differentiated phenotypes. This work reports cloning expression pattern one these differentiation genes, a type II collagen (col2a1) gene from zebrafish Danio rerio. Along th8e embryonic axis, col2a1 expressed dynamically three rows are each single cell wide: notochord immediately dorsal ventral it—the floor plate central nervous system, hypochord. In addition, pharyngeal arches, epithelium otic capsule, mesenchyme neurocranium. Experiments probed relative known or potential regulators development, including axial, sonic hedgehog, twist, cyclops. The results showed spatial temporal mesoderm follows twist closer than other tested. cyclops which lack an intact plate, was usually low, but not missing spinal cord. Because reveals abnormalities cyclopsb16 less col2a1-expressing accumulates rostral effects mutation confined system. ©1995 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
