摘要: Osteoradionecrosis of the mandible (MORN) is one most devastating complications caused by radiation therapy in head and neck region. It characterized infection chronic necrosis as main manifestation. Clinically, MORN-related symptoms include swelling, pain, dysphagia, trismus, masticatory or speech disorders, refractory orocutaneous fistula, bone exposure, even pathological fracture. MORN has become a challenging clinical problem for oral maxillofacial surgeons to deal with, but thus far, this not been solved due lack widely accepted treatment algorithms guidelines. Because nonexistence standardized criteria, against nowadays largely based on controversial empirical understandings, while recommendations post-therapeutic evaluations are scarce. Therefore, further unify standardize diagnosis MORN, decrease huge waste medical resources, ultimately, improve wellbeing patients, Chinese Society Oral Maxillofacial Surgery (CSOMS) convened an expert panel specialized from 16 domestic colleges affiliated hospitals discuss spectrum formulate treatment. In addition, consensus were also revised with comprehensive literature review previous experiences research pearls. This 'expert statement management MORN' reference.
