Effectiveness of problem gambling interventions in a service setting: a protocol for a pragmatic randomised controlled clinical trial.

摘要: Introduction The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the relative effectiveness 2 best developed and most promising forms therapy for problem gambling, namely face-to-face motivational interviewing (MI) combined with a self-instruction booklet (W) follow-up telephone booster sessions (B; MI+W+B) cognitive–behavioural (CBT). Methods analysis This project single-blind pragmatic randomised clinical trial interventions, without addition relapse-prevention text messages. Trial assessments take place pretreatment, at 3 12 months. A total 300 participants will be recruited through community treatment agency that provides services across New Zealand up 10 CBT or 1 session MI+W+up 5 B. Participants also 9 months postcare messaging. Eligibility criteria include self-perception having current gambling willingness participate in all components (eg, read workbook). statistical use an intent-to-treat approach. Primary outcome measures are days spent amount money per day prior month. Secondary severity, urges, cognitions, mood, alcohol, drug use, tobacco, psychological distress, quality life, health status direct indirect costs associated treatment. Ethics dissemination research methods used have been approved by Ministry Health, Health Disability Committees (HDEC) 15/CEN/99. investigators provide annual reports HDEC report any adverse events committee. Amendments submitted results publication peer-reviewed journals as funding body. Additionally, presented national international conferences. registration number ACTRN12615000637549.
