摘要: The Reunion mantle plume has shaped a large area of the Earth's surface over past 65 million years: from Deccan Traps in India along hotspot track comprising island chains Laccadives, Maldives and Chagos Bank on Indian plate Mascarene Plateau African up to currently active volcanism at La Island. This study addresses question how plume, especially interaction with Central Ridge, created complex crustal thickness pattern track. For this purpose, convection code ASPECT was used design three-dimensional numerical models, which consider specific location underneath moving plates surrounded by large-scale flow. results show produced altogether agrees well topographic maps. Especially two features are consistently reproduced models: distinctive gap between is combination ridge geometry plume-ridge interaction; Rodrigues narrow structure connects appears as expression long-distance sub-lithospheric flow channel. therefore provides further insight small-scale generated interplay lithospheric processes.
