摘要: Abstract The development and exploitation of sustainable environmentally friendly energy sources are required in order to resolve global shortages reduce the reliance many countries on fossil fuel combustion. Salinity gradient has been considered a potential candidate for renewable due abundance saline waters that could be combined with less solutions across globe. Pressure Retarded Osmosis (PRO) is one technologies harness salinity energy. Apart from zero carbon dioxide emission, PRO capable producing power periodicity, low environmental impacts. One preconditions technical financial feasibility PRO, however, PRO-specific membrane—one meets conditions none current commercially-available membranes have met so far. paper discusses progress made membrane development, particularly during past decade, analyses challenges still hindering implementation at large scales. Also, this explores possibilities by analysing various combinations existent salt concentrations. Australia chosen demonstrate some applications PRO. This vast country extensive reserves paired concentrated generate power. For each combination solutions, conceptual idea presented, an estimate production given. advantages disadvantages scheme discussed. ideas estimates can easily extrapolated, minor adjustments, other similar conditions. It hoped publication will valuable those nations policies as Australia’s, government incentives new explore sources.
