Enhanced optical and electrical gas sensing response of sol-gel based NiO-Au and ZnO-Au nanostructured thin films

摘要: Abstract NiO and ZnO thin films of about 40–50 nm thickness with embedded Au nanoparticles have been synthesized a simple reliable sol–gel procedure. The nanocomposites are crystalline porous they show optical absorptions in the visible range according to concentration. These tested as electrical sensors for pollutant gases detection. A fast reversible response has detected hydrogen, CO NO2. found improve sensing properties both over surface plasmon resonance peak wavelength range, but also enhance near UV where optically inactive. Moreover, combining observed shift different semiconductive type two oxides, it proved that reducing inject electrons into oxide then afterward charge variation is by nanoparticles. Electrical tests confirm n-type behavior p-type NiO, good performances at lower temperatures. an enhancing effect overall tests.
