摘要: Nanotechnology in the construction industry ranked eighth out of ten most significant areas applications. Although nano-products are costly, research nano-technology is gaining momentum with motivation immediate profitable return from high value products. This chapter documents potential that can improve performance and durability concrete service life. Nano-products have ability to manipulate structure at nanometer scale, which leads generation tailored, multifunctional, cementitious composites superior mechanical having a range novel properties such as: low electrical resistivity, self-sensing capabilities, self-cleaning, self-healing, ductility, self-control cracks. covers primary nano-engineering nano-modifications systems as (i) incorporation nano-scale spherical materials (e.g., nano-SiO2, TiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3 etc.) nano-tubes or fibers [(carbon nano-tube (CNT) carbon nano-fibers (CNF)] nano-clay into during mixing, (ii) application nano-porous thin film on aggregate surfaces before mixing order interfacial transition zone (ITZ) concrete, (iii) pore solution controlled release chemical admixtures, (iv) workability self-consolidated (SCC), (v) further improvement reactive powder (RPC), (vi) applications building materials, (vii) nanotechnology based devices etc. The discussion for each area findings by different researchers / agencies, possible mechanisms improvement, Finally, challenges future direction nano-based products field briefly described.
