摘要: Soil stresses such as salinity, drought, and heavy metals are major hindrances to crop productivity these can significantly decrease plant growth production. Colonization with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) enhance tolerance stresses. Arbuscular associates integral, functioning parts of roots increase production due the formation extensive hyphal network biochemicals like glomalin. This chapter provides an overview mechanisms evolved by AMF help plants survive in stressful conditions. These include enhanced growth, prevention nutrient deficiency ion toxicity, osmotic adjustment, enhancing activities antioxidants oxidative damage, improving photosynthesis, water status. In addition, stress avoidance strategies exclusion toxic ions, restriction entry ions immobilization soil or roots.
