摘要: Destruction of the maternal suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN) early in gestation disrupts communication time-of-day information to rat fetus. In present study, we demonstrated that periodic feeding (food cue) SCN-lesioned pregnant rats entrains fetal biological clock. The phase drinking behavior rhythm was examined pups reared constant darkness, beginning at weaning. several control (uncued) litters, pup phases weaning were scattered. other litters where within-litter coordination observed, average litter unpredictable. contrast, rhythms whose dams had received food cue during synchronized within- and between-litters, suggesting prenatal entrained fetuses. effect occurs prenatally, as similar results obtained when offspring SCN-lesioned, cued fostered lesioned, uncued on day birth. results, along with data from this laboratories, suggest redundant mechanisms communicate
