摘要: The head and neck cancer patient often presents with both protein malnutrition trace element deficiencies. Zinc has been found to be deficient in many patients. In this study, pretreatment zinc status nutritional (measured by the Prognostic Nutritional Index [PNI]) were correlated clinical outcomes 47 patients followed-up for a median of 52 mo from time enrollment. Our results showed that tumor size overall stage significantly whereas no such correlation was seen PNI, alcohol intake, or smoking our subjects. also impaired associated an increased number treatment morbidities, unplanned hospitalizations, delays (P < 0.05). not any studied outcome variable. disease-free interval highest group which had zinc-sufficient nutrition-sufficient status. Although data do prove conclusively, they suggest at presentation may contribute morbidity, optimal mean interval, sufficient is required.
