摘要: Brain glucose-sensing neurons detect glucose fluctuations and prevent severe hypoglycemia, but mechanisms mediating functions of these are unclear. Here we report that estrogen receptor-α (ERα)-expressing in the ventrolateral subdivision ventromedial hypothalamic nucleus (vlVMH) can sense fluctuations, being glucose-inhibited (GI-ERαvlVMH) or glucose-excited (GE-ERαvlVMH). Hypoglycemia activates GI-ERαvlVMH via anoctamin 4 channel, inhibits GE-ERαvlVMH through opening ATP-sensitive potassium channel. Further, show preferentially project to medioposterior arcuate hypothalamus (mpARH) dorsal Raphe nuclei (DRN). Activation ERαvlVMH mpARH circuit inhibition DRN both increase blood glucose. Thus, our results indicate hypoglycemia mice.
