摘要: Saliva is an important compound produced by the salivary glands and performs numerous functions. Hyposalivation (dry mouth syndrome) a deleterious condition often resulting from radiotherapy for patients with head neck cancer, Sjogren’s Syndrome, or as side effect of certain medications. negatively affects speaking, mastication, swallowing in afflicted patients, greatly reducing their quality life. Current treatments this pathology include modifying lifestyle, synthetic saliva supplementation, utilization gland stimulants sialagogues. However, many these do not address underlying issues others are pervaded effects. In order to shortcomings related current treatment modalities, groups have diverted attention utilizing tissue engineering regenerative medicine approaches. Tissue defined application life sciences materials toward development substitutes that capable mimicking structure function natural analogues within body. The general strategy behind engineered organ combination cells, biomaterials, biochemical cues intended recreate environment. purpose review highlight bioengineering approaches adult stem cell sources used purpose. Additionally, future considerations regard strategies discussed.
