摘要: This paper presents some results of a study the transport effects urban land-use change which was commissioned by Department Transport (DOT) in 1995. The investigated how alternative ideas for more compact cities might affect total demand and its costs as perceived passengers public providers. It tested consequences several different patterns, began with review existing literature on patterns transport, introduction policies to reduce travel or maximise use transport. applied START model Bristol area England; chosen because wider view travellers' choices. Both local national data were used estimate changes from 1990 2015. attempted represent all within across typical 16-hour weekday, divided into morning evening peaks off-peak periods. focussed mainly car, bus, train, park-and-ride, cycling, walking. Several scenarios strategies tested, including Trend Compact City scenarios. Model are discussed, trips cost users.
