摘要: Mormon crickets form large migratory bands that march over rangeland in the western United States seeking salt and protein. Immune defence is particularly relevant to survival bands, but little known about role of nutrition insect immunocompetence. We hypothesised immune defences are compromised these due nutrient limitations. 2. In a band Utah, we investigated whether access protein relative carbohydrate diet would immediately reduce activity, as had been shown for previous study Idaho, enhance responses. 3. Radio-tracking field, found locomotor activity was significantly positively associated with body mass. Body mass-adjusted declined marginally following diet, whereas spontaneous phenoloxidase (PO) enhanced by same diet. The encapsulation response lysozyme-like were directly proportional mass, unaffected dietary treatments short term. Within 6 h feeding on or carbohydrates, exhibited measurable effects system. 4. conclude impacts function migrating insects field. Spontaneous PO may be limited deficiency protein- crickets.
