摘要: This paper examines the complexities and challenges of modelling a regional energy system in context Wales. Despite wealth studies at national level, as most research does not address UK regions devolved administrations separately, it can be challenging to derive insights into potential different technologies transition pathways,. However, that tackle supply demand distributed level become both available necessary order achieve efficiency emission reduction targets, much responsibility for their implementation is increasingly passed local governments. In addition, has shown effectiveness such measures dependent on marginal factor generator time they are implemented. Consequently broad average factors do accurately reflect impact. The Welsh Government (WG) set ambitious targets carbon reductions renewable power generation capacity. Set against background limited powers – decisions large scale still lie with central government an integrated network which Wales net exporter, WG policy goals present interesting problem. this we discuss need undertake ‘regional’ assessment Wales, improve evidence base contributions common techno-economic scenarios. We also debate appropriate indicators metrics monitoring progress objectives based region-specific data.
