摘要: Summary Background The prevalence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is unknown. Methods We conducted a cross-sectional survey random sample individuals 40–80 years old with particular interest to explore local risk factors other than cigarette smoking. Airflow limitation compatible COPD was defined as post-bronchodilator ratio FEV 1 /FVC Results From 520 participants surveyed (93.7% response rate), 55% male and mean age 52 years, the 3.7% 95% C.I. (2.0–5.3). There were no differences by gender, only significantly increased those 70 year older. Among COPD, smoking use relatively low (12% current- 12% former-smokers), it even lower shisha (5%), pipe (0%), or exposure passive while biomass higher (33%). Interestingly, bakhour very high (78%), but neither nor any above-mentioned exposures associated COPD. Conclusions Dhabi 3.7%, associations inhaled not observed.
