摘要: We find that the classical nova V723 Cas (1995) is still an active X-ray source more than 12 years after outburst, and analyze seven observations carried out with Swift between 2006 January 31 2007 December 3. The average count rate 0.022 ± 0.01 cts s–1, but variable within a factor of 2 mean does not show any signs turning off. present supporting optical which 2001 underlying hot was steadily increasing temperature. In order to confirm emission from Cas, we extract ROSAT observation taken in 1990 there no at position nova. XRT spectra resemble those super soft binary sources (SSS) confirmed by RXTE survey data above keV 1996 2007. Using blackbody fits constrain effective temperature T eff = (2.8 – 3.8) × 105 K bolometric luminosity 5 1036 erg s–1 caution luminosities blackbodies are generally overestimated temperatures underestimated. discuss number possible explanations for continuing activity, including intriguing possibility steady hydrogen burning due renewed accretion.
