摘要: We present time series measurements of chromospheric activity for more than 2600 main-sequence and subgiant stars on the California Planet Search (CPS) program with spectral types ranging from about F5V to M4V G0IV K5IV subgiants. The large data set 44,000 spectra allows us identify an empirical baseline floor as a function color height above main sequence. define ΔS excess in emission Ca II H K lines radial velocity jitter B – V stars. Although any individual star can always exceed level, we find that dwarfs have lowest level jitter. lack correlation between observed suggests is dominated by instrumental or analysis errors not astrophysical noise sources. Thus, given long-term precision CPS program, velocities are correlated chromospherically quiet dwarf stars, making these particularly well suited highest Doppler surveys. Chromospherically F G subgiants exhibit higher levels dwarfs. Despite fact rms mean activity, it rare see one-to-one correlations measurements, diminishing prospects correcting activity-induced variations
