摘要: Bipolar II (BP-II) depression is often misdiagnosed as unipolar (UP) depression, resulting in suboptimal treatment. Tools for differentiating between these two types of are lacking. This study aimed to develop a simple, self-report screening instrument help distinguish BP-II from UP depressive disorder. A prototype questionnaire (BPIIDQ-P) was constructed following literature review, panel discussions and field trial. Consecutively assessed patients with diagnosis disorder or BP episodes completed the BPIIDQ-P at psychiatric outpatient clinic Hong Kong October December 2013. Data were analyzed using discriminant analysis logistic regression. Of 298 subjects recruited, 65 (21.8%) males 233 (78.2%) females. There 112 (37.6%) [BP-I = 42 (14.1%), 70 (23.5%)] 182 (62.4%) depression. Based on family history, age onset, postpartum episodic course, attacks anxiety, hypersomnia, social phobia agoraphobia, 8-item BPIIDQ-8 constructed. The differentiated those sensitivity/specificity 0.75/0.63 whole sample 0.77/0.72 female subgroup history childbirth. can differentiate secondary care level satisfactory good reliability validity. It has potential tool primary settings. Recall bias, relatively small size, high proportion females limit generalization results.
