摘要: The recruitment pattern of the venerid Venerupis aurea was monitored from August 2004 to September 2005 investigate feasibility collecting natural spat for management or maricultural purposes. Three sites varying adult densities were chosen in southern region Lake Timsah, Suez Canal, Egypt. Recruitment is used, herein, refer juveniles generally less than 9 mm shell length. separation between and adults based on size at onset maturity. V. continuous throughout most year varied significantly among three sites. Monthly collections yielded an average 687.1, 239.5, 115.3 m-2 I, II, III, respectively. Higher abundance recruits occurred during period November March 2005. density this (n = 5) 1508.0, 293.6, 262.4 ind. sites, data suggest that survival probably influenced by abiotic factors, particularly sediment composition, rather biotic factors such as adult-juvenile interactions. growth length site I accompanied weight (isometric growth). At II increased relatively slower indicating negative allometric growth.
