摘要: A novel method of manufacturing strong Al2O3 bodies with low (<1%) shrinkage is presented. Compacts attrition-milled Al/Al2O3 powder mixtures are heat treated at temperatures between 1200 and 1550°C such that the expansion due to Al→Al2O3 reaction on sintering nearly balanced. Depending processing parameters as ratio, compaction pressure heating cycle, a variety different microstructures can be developed. In spite some residual porosity, strengths ∼300 MPa attained.
