摘要: Several studies have suggested an association between periodontal disease and prematurity but this finding has not been consistently observed. Case control study. Cases (n = 50) were women who had delivered after spontaneous preterm labor at <35 weeks gestation. Two groups of controls 101) recruited: undelivered a gestation term. A standard, clinical, examination was performed gingival crevicular fluid obtained from standardized locations tested for neutrophil elastase along with the bacterial enzymes gingipain dipeptidylpeptidase. Data analyzed Fisher's exact tests, ANOVA multivariate logistic regression. There no difference in proportion sites significant attachment loss (≥3 mm): Cases-3.2%, Controls-2.2% p 0.21. The concentrations elevated cases vs. 238.8 uU/ul 159.6 .007 2.70 1.56 .001. On analysis, mean log concentration elastase, gingipain, remained predictor .0.015. We found evidence that clinical is associated birth. Elevated levels birth further research needed before can be assumed to causal relationship.
