摘要: Because the Edge Computing (EC) paradigm allows processing of vast amounts data in proximity to respective source, latency and quantity constraints are no longer a limiting factor. That enables development novel data-driven applications extension solutions space for value-added services production. The complexity diversity factories, combined with continuing discovery new solutions, poses challenge practitioners thoroughly determine where, which, how should be processed. This, however, is crucial deciding whether invest EC. This paper proposes multiphase concept systematic assessment where EC most beneficial given production environment. It comprised human machine interpretable functions. Combining multiple functions leads solution, which forms links between sources (assets) environment desired outcome (goals). Four main criteria derived enable exposure areas increased potential, forming baseline scoring system. designed so that its application feasible within an industrial context. First analyses show prospect approach suggest potential benefits providing practical implementation guidance.
