摘要: This study tested a dynamic traffic assignment (DTA) model as tool for pre-planning strategies managing major freeway incidents. Incidents of varying scale and duration were modeled in the northern Chicago highway network, impacts incidents response actions measured terms both lane-mile-hours links at level service (LOS) "F" spread congestion to alternate routes around incident. It was found that best action given incident scenario is not necessarily intuitive, implementing wrong can worsen on directly impacted its surrounding network. The simulation showed full closure causes parallel simulated An event this constitutes disruption may warrant handing off control authority from first responders corridor or regional management center (TMC). Major arterials accessible sometimes needed increased capacity provide access less congested during increases with delayed response, underscoring benefits speed implementation effective actions. Regression analysis using data generated by demonstrates are statistically significant predictors zone near expressway.
