摘要: Abstract This note provides a conceptually simple derivation of the Kelvin equation, based on principles hydrostatics, rather than more elegant and abstract thermodynamic approach equating chemical potential each phases. With new derivation, physical picture drop in equilibrium with its own vapour is readily appreciated, hence basis equation easily understood by those less skilled science thermodynamics. In turn, number limitations [ Powles, 1985 . Journal Physics A Mathematical General 18, 1551–1560] become physically obvious, notably assumption that liquid incompressible, an ideal gas, interfacial tension independent curvature interface. appropriate corrections can be introduced as required.
