摘要: Data on co-morbidity in patients with postsurgical hypoparathyroidism (HypoPT) are sparse. We aimed to assess risk of fractures, spinal stenosis, cataract, neuropsychiatric diseases, cancer, and infections within the historic cohort HypoPT due non-malignant causes that we previously have characterized. Patients were identified through Danish National Patient Registry regional prescription databases, subsequent validation their individual hospital records. Identified cases matched three age- (± 2 yr) gender-matched controls from general background population. Compared controls, did not an increased cataract (p = 0.52), stenosis (p = 0.59), or any fracture (p = 0.98). However, fractures at upper extremities was significantly decreased (HR 0.69, 95% CI 0.49-0.97). had a hospitalization 1.42, 1.20-1.67) depression/bipolar affective disorders 1.99, 1.14-3.46). The malignant diseases differ between groups although gastrointestinal cancers lower compared 0.63, 0.44-0.93). In conclusion, is associated depression other types as well infections, whereas seem be protected against malignancies.
