摘要: Uptake of Alcian Blue by amyloids in various human tissues was usually negligible paraffin sections stained at pH 2.6, but considerable 5.7 magnesium chloride. Amyloids took up toluidine blue and were then birefringent polarised light. The “critical electrolyte concentratons” chloride which ceased to stain indicate that the polyanion(s) contain both ester sulfate non-ester ionic groups, presumably carboxyls. Other evidence supports this interpretation. concentration” pattern is more compatible with presence heparitin sulphate than any other sulphated polysaccharide. sialoprotein not excluded. Masking polyanions suggests strongly a polycation, probably protein, present. behaviour series polyanion-polycation complexes range salt concentrations has been studied. Congo red, an acid dye, polycations under conditions used amyloids. It proposed insoluble formed interaction protein polyanion; case carbohydrate nature, sulfated.
