摘要: The recovery of wolf populations in the United States (U.S.) is hampered by ongoing human-wolf conflicts. In particular, illegal killing grey wolves (Canis lupus), red rufus), and Mexican lupus baileyi) protected under U.S. Endangered Species Act has contributed to relatively high mortality rates some areas. One issue that are often mistaken as coyotes latrans) illegally shot hunters. To minimise cases identity, stricter regulation coyote hunting being adopted areas where endangered exist. Here we argue such management should be more widely, especially at low densities or recolonising new Such a proposal may face opposition, particularly common, perceived threat human enterprises livestock ranching. Appropriate education training needed ensure public aware (i) difficult distinguish from distance (ii) far too resilient affected most periodic eradication programs, let alone derbies recreational hunting. We conclude could restrict recolonisation while providing little benefit animal agriculture. Consideration strategies therefore required assist with restoration efforts human-wildlife
