摘要: Investigations on sleep have a long history. After the discovery of REM (Aserinsky and Kleitmann 1953) interest in this phenomenon progressively increased. This was fostered when investigators noted that some CNS-active drugs changed amount sleep. An important group such is antidepressants. Subsequently attention many has focused particular field. Studies testing effects antidepressants been carried out animals, normal humans, depressed patients subjects suffering from other psychiatric disorders. The aims these investigations heterogeneous included: evaluation parameters; relationships between neurotransmitters regulation; drug classification based their sleep; as indicators treatment responsiveness.
