摘要: Assault by acid burns typically results in severe disfigurement, yet the psychosocial impact of this injury is so far unreported. This study provides first empirical data using standardised assessment scales, from 44 survivors Bangladesh. Compared with published norms, individuals show high levels psychological distress including social anxiety and avoidance, depression. Consistent literature, there no relationship between severity level distress. One interesting feature population relative preservation perceived self-concept, discussed relation to supportive therapeutic environment clinic where group were studied. We also note an sub-group who attacked members their own family for whom morbidity seems particularly pronounced.
