摘要: Transgenic tobacco plants engineered to express either the potato virus X (PVX) coat protein (CP+) or antisense transcript (CP-antisense) were protected from infection by PVX, as indicated reduced lesion numbers on inoculated leaves, delay absence of systemic symptom development and reduction in accumulation both leaves. The extent protection observed CP+ primarily depended upon level expression protein. Plants expressing RNA only at low inoculum concentrations. this was even lower than that levels CP. In contrast previous reports for mosaic alfalfa CP, inoculation high PVX CP with did not overcome protection. Specifically, leaves systemtic a similar plants. Although these results do rule out CP-mediated involves inhibition uncoating challenge virus, they suggest (or its RNA) can moderate early events different mechanism.
