摘要: Composition of an artificial medium for laboratory cultures the pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella (Saund.), is given. The has wheat germ meal as primary constituent but also contains vitamin-free casein, sucrose, Wesson's salts, choline chloride, agar, sodium alginate, vitamins, and water. Growth development on bollworm this diet approximated that reported insect in field. larval developmental period averaged 16.3 days; prepupae 2.2 pupae 8.8 days. Pupae produced were slightly smaller than those collected from cotton bolls. Oviposition records indicated females reared would produce more eggs field-collected moths. Records several thousand insects average 81.5% larvae originally placed grow into adults.
