摘要: Abstract Totally chlorine-free (TCF) bleaching technologies can result in high concentrations of residual hydrogen peroxide combined mill effluent. This study was undertaken to determine the effect on effluent characteristics (biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), toxicity), biological sludge (oxygen uptake rate (OUR), catalase activity) and efficiency with which laboratory-scale activated reactors treat TCF bleached kraft (BKM) effluents. The presence over 20 mg/L TCF-BKM found decrease BOD by up 25%. complete decomposition 1000 not have an upon toxicity, as measured Microtox R . Increasing (5–1000 influent) were continually added a reactor treating TCF-bleached Treatment efficiency, removal BOD, chemical (COD) be unaffected influent. Several methods gauging acclimatization performed throughout study. Activated mixed liquor samples from continuous shocked varying peroxide. Oxygen samples, especially when unacclimated, dramatically subjected shock loads increasing had been acclimated feed more resistant H 2 O loading. Catalase-equivalent induction also monitored means activity increase concentration, appeared reach maximum level 1.3–1.5 (min g biomass) −1 It concluded that is able contained , microorganisms present adapt receiving such
