What is Spanglish? The phenomenon of code-switching and its impact amongst US Latinos

摘要: Considering the significant num bers of Spanish speakers in United States and resulting linguistic strategies an English language dominant context, phenomenon code-switching is examined this paper as important element ‘border culture’. Focus given to sociocultural practices based on research US Latino communities, differences between code-mixing are analysed alongside attitudes towards phenomenon. In asking question, what Spanglish? terms “Latino”, “Hispanic” problematised, demonstrating that these labels carry strong connotative meanings, way, use term “Spanglish” can be seen a political assertion border identity.
