Analysis of secondary organic aerosol formation and aging using positive matrix factorization of high-resolution aerosol mass spectra: application to the dodecane low-NO x system

摘要: Abstract. Positive matrix factorization (PMF) of high-resolution laboratory chamber aerosol mass spectra is applied for the first time, results which are consistent with molecular level MOVI-HRToF-CIMS aerosol-phase and CIMS gas-phase measurements. Secondary organic was generated by photooxidation dodecane under low-NOx conditions in Caltech environmental chamber. The PMF exhibit three factors representing a combination gas-particle partitioning, chemical conversion aerosol, wall deposition. slope measured spectrometer (HR-ToF-AMS) composition data on Van Krevelen diagram that other alkane systems same O : C range. Elemental analysis factor spectral profiles elucidates combinations functionality contribute to diagram.
