摘要: We wanted to find out whether the presence of specular highlights on otherwise matte objects would make a difference perceived surface relief. Six different, globally convex were displayed computer screen. The depicted either or glossy and illuminated from one two different directions. Shape-from-shading was evaluated with paradigms. In Experiment 1 observers asked set number local attitude probes such that looked as if they tangent objects' surfaces. 2, instructed traces contours in horizontal vertical planes. Although tasks target aspects surface, give essentially similar results here. both we found differences induced by changing illumination direction. Surprisingly, no systematic between for objects. must, therefore, conclude there is evidence current study glossiness influences shape perception although observer look quite different.
