摘要: This exploratory essay analyzes the idea of race in contemporary America. A brief historical overview concept is provided and early anthropological ideas are compared contrasted to current popular United States. Theories taken from cultural studies applied America provide a new understanding on this complex construct. The study concludes that labels “white” “black” American have more do with identity than phenotypical traits such as skin color facial features.
