摘要: Abstract Protected areas play a key role in biodiversity conservation, yet they face numerous pressures including the spread of invasive alien species (IAS). We designed structured online survey to investigate distribution and management 53 plant large protected areas, i.e. national parks biosphere reserves, eight Central European countries. contacted 93 authorities, which 46 replied. In 44 (96% those responding), at least one IAS was present, 37 (80%) were managed. On average, 11.2 ± 6.9 present per area 4.3 ± 3.4 (41%) these A one-way ANOVA showed no significant difference number or managed between different designations (national parks, reserves). Similarly, neither size nor founding year influenced Thirty-one (58%) area. The most widely Fallopia japonica (23 areas), Heracleum mantegazzianum (20), Impatiens glandulifera (16). amount financial resources devoted rather low, corresponding 3.1 ± 4.4% total budget for natural areas. conclude that lack dedicated funding coordinated response currently limit effectiveness management. particular, an increased exchange expertise development minimum standards surveillance are pivotal. addition, documenting best practice examples synthesizing lessons learned urgently needed.
