摘要: Sintered nickel powder is proposed to be used as porous wicks in loop heat pipes for space applications such satellites and crafts. In this work, the manufacturing procedure tubular through novel Metal Injection Moulding (MIM) route discussed. Nickel powder, Polypropylene thermoplastic binder are produce feedstock injection moulding. Ideal sintering condition identified 900°C 60 minutes. Porosity, pore diameter of evaluated by geometric measurements using an electronic weight measuring machine a micrometer extrusion flow Porosimeter, respectively. Permeability was calculated according Carmen–Kozeny equation. Experimental finding shows that porosity level 55 vol%, average 2.6 μm, permeability 1.94 × 10 − 12 m2 roundness 5% have been achieved wick. SEM investigation structures presence large pores which leads enhanced interconnected fine network responsible generation required capillary pumping pressure.
