摘要: To the extent that intelligent vehicle-highway systems (IVHSs) improve traffic operations and increase efficiency of transportation system, emission benefits are expected. However, some policy makers concerned by increasing number vehicle trips miles traveled, IVHS may have detrimental effects as well. Detrimental would partially offset gained from improved a more efficient system. There is little evidence, however, most strategies will induce travel to point increases in roadway supply brought about improvements quickly completely absorbed additional traffic. Air quality problems associated with congestion, poor maintenance, wasted travel, too many be alleviated an array products, user services, technologies level service on highways, promote mode shifts favor high-occupancy vehicles, supplement conventional control programs such inspection maintenance.
