摘要: We examined the representation of stimulus center frequencies by distribution cortical activity. Recordings were made from primary auditory cortex (area A1) ketamine-anesthetized guinea pigs. Cortical images tones and noise bands visualized as simultaneously recorded spike activity neurons at 16 sites along tonotopic gradient frequency representation. The image a pure tone showed restricted focus gradient. As was increased, location activation shifted rostral to caudal. When cochlear broadened increasing level or bandwidth, broadened. An artificial neural network algorithm used quantify accuracy center-frequency small populations neurons. identified based on single-trial counts few ten sites. performance under various conditions bandwidth suggests that is largely insensitive changes in width images.
