摘要: The two-electron reduction of O 2 at pH 3 (1 M Na SO 4 acidified by glacial acetic acid) and 9.6 (mixture 0.5 CO NaHCO ) was investigated in flow-by electrochemical reactors with three-dimensional cathodes, consisting graphite felt (GF) or reticulated vitreous carbon (RVC). cathode operated co-current upward gas/liquid flow pressures the range 200-700 kPa. A factorial design four variables two levels employed to investigate effects superficial current density, liquid load, pressure, cationic surfactant concentration [i.e., trioctylmethylammonium chloride (Aliquat® 336, A336)] on H concentration, efficiency, reactor voltage. Among A336 exerted strongest positive main effect both efficiency. beneficial due suppression loss electroreduction surface-catalyzed decomposition. However, increased pressure gradient through GF up 100%. estimated using Herbolzheimer-Park model for influence motion gas bubbles liquid-filled capillaries. An mass-transfer RVC developed correlated experimental results.
