摘要: Abstract Recent studies have revealed properties of feldspars which widespread implications for 40 Ar 39 age spectra. In matters related to excess Ar, anomalous spectrum shapes, slow cooling effects and radiogenic 40Ar 40Ar∗ loss, internally consistent, testable models are available appear well describe end-member phenomena. Simultaneously, however, criticisms appeared challenge the very basis method in providing chronological data, let alone thermal histories. The resolution appears not lie differing experimental approaches, but rather persistence argon folklore a tendency some endow significance their results beyond scope sampling. Here, recent literature is reviewed light these contradictions assess what known about interpretation remains imperfectly understood.
