摘要: Membrane biofouling is one of the major obstacles limiting membrane applications in water treatment. In this study, Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus HD 100, a Gram-negative predatory bacterium, was evaluated as novel way to mitigate and its subsequent performance decline. Dead-end microfiltration (MF) tests were carried out on Escherichia coli DH5α B. 100 co-culture feed solutions. Predation E. performed at either low or high multiplicity infection (MOI), which defined predator prey cell ratio. The MOIs tested 2 200, viability both monitored over 48 h. higher MOI (high predator, HP) culture showed nearly 6-log loss number after 24 h when compared control (low LP) cultures, whereas population within predated cultures (HP became identical 4-log lower than that control. unpredated led significant flux 12, 24, culture, but HP LP membranes less by comparison. Analysis total resistance similar trend decline pattern; however, irreversible much for This increase attributed mainly debris, accumulated medium lysed cells. These results show pretreatment wastewater using suitable concentration bacteria such can enhance performance.
