摘要: The AISI 316 steel was treated by the plasma paste boriding using a gas mixture of 70%H2–30%Ar with boron source 100% B2O3 in temperature range 700–800 °C for 3, 5 and 7 h. boride layers formed on samples were observed scanning electron microscope. iron borides also identified use an X-ray microanalyzer, equipped energy dispersive spectroscopy. XRD analysis carried out to identify metallic present inside layer. Based kinetic data, value activation estimated as 118.12 kJ mol−1 compared data available literature. A regression model based ANOVA used predict layers’ thicknesses depending parameters: treatment time temperature. good correspondence obtained between experimental values those predicted model. Furthermore, wear behavior sample borided at 750 h investigated. significant increase resistance layer comparison untreated steel. nanomechanical properties sample, 700 h, examined nanoindenter Vickers diamond tip. load–displacement curves, well as, Young’s moduli hardness shown selected measurements. results depended phase composition tested area.
