摘要: The Central Australian desert ant Melophorus bagoti is the most thermophilic on continent. It comes out to forage during hottest part of day in summer months. shares a cluttered, plant-filled habitat with other arthropods and uses range navigational strategies. We review recent studies this species concerning its use habitual routes, distant landmarks, landmarks around nest, path integration, which keeping track distance direction traveled from one's starting point. Functional predictions acquisition, retention, integration memories distances are also reviewed, illuminating behavioral ecology spatial cognition.
